DR. JERRY SMITH
(PsyD, LPCS, LCAS, CCS, MAC, NCC, SAP)
Dr. Jerry Smith is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist with over 18 years of experience in mental health and addictions treatment. Likewise, Dr. Smith is a LPC Supervisor and Certified Clinical Supervisor and presently conducts consultations with professionals pursuing LPC and LCAS licensure.
Dr. Smith also served in the United States Navy for over 20 years and subsequently retired from the service back in 2009. Dr. Smith has worked in various clinical environments (military personnel/dependent counselor, child/adolescent treatment facilities, community mental health, and addictions treatment) which have allowed him the opportunity to gain experiences in working with diverse populations.
In regards to formal education, Dr. Smith obtained his Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology in July 2009 from the University of the Rockies in Colorado Springs, Colorado and a Master of Arts in Community Counseling in December 2002 from Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
Dr. Jerry Smith’s personal approach to counseling is best described as one that is Christian based, client-centered, and family systems oriented. He does not impose his faith/beliefs upon anyone, but is not ashamed to expose principles of faith when and only if it is appropriate and does not cause harm to the client. “I believe that people are capable of reaching their best potential given adequate support and tools for change.” The goals and techniques will be based on each client individually according to their specific reasons for entering into counseling.
